As a 1st time visit to this pub my wife and I would recommend it to anyone.
as we were driving along this beautiful country road we decided to pull over for a pint into this beautiful pub with ‘massif’ car park !!!  we only pulled over for a pint ? when we approached the bar i noticed they had a CARVERY on,so i decided to have one of those and My wife chose the MONSTER CHEESEBURGER ! carvery had a choice of 2 meats,Yorkshire pudding and plenty of veg.
the burger came with 2 slices of bacon,onion rings,mushrooms and chips..
the bill did not even come to £20.00 now thats what i call value for money !! and quality food at these prices..
anyway after all that we had kind of settled in ! so i asked the landlady if it was OK to park the motor home in there car park for the night and she said it was no problem , so that was great i could have more of that delicious real ale ! and a good bit crack as the night went on.
on a whole this is a nice friendly pub with good quality food at affordable prices .. many thanks to all and not to forget the chef (landlord)who i noticed is very helpful with his other guests and there children, nothing is a problem to this guy !

“After visiting over 12 pubs and restaurants within the Devon area we stumbled upon The Countryman and booked in for Sunday carvery. The welcome from Pauline and Roger was warm and friendly with some light banter. The food was home cooked and generous helpings even though full to bursting we all forced down dessert and what a dessert, all were melt in your mouth delicious.
We were all so impressed with the quality of food that we returned on Thursday evening to sample the evening menu, again the food was scrumptious and the welcome warm and friendly.
Thanks to all at the Countryman for upholding the tradition of British food and doing it with a smile”.

My wife and I wish to record our comments on our recent visit (8/9/2012)to your carvery. The outward appearance is stunning with ample car parking. The interior is tastefully furnished. The welcome was warm, friendly and very genuine. But above all was the quality and quantity of the food. The presentation at the carvery counter was very appetising, and the food proved more than delicious. Having picked your establishment at random, I would most heartily recommend it to anyone and would certainly visit again when in the area. Well done for running such wonderful restaurant.
